We believe in the power music; learning to sing and play instruments increases brain connectivity, encourages positive emotions, catalyzes healing, and inspires expression and creativity.
We encourage learners of all ages to start where they are and move forward at their own pace. We meet our students where they are and help them reach their goals step by step.

Welcome! I’m Raya Leavitt Blackburn. I believe in the power of music. And, I love the POWER and the JOY of teaching children music!
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Music Education, a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction, and 20 years of teaching experience!
One of my favorite jobs was working with a company called Let’s Play Music. In 2012, I created their preschool music curriculum, Sound Beginnings, and trained and advised the first 100 teachers.
It has always been a dream of mine to create my own music curriculum licensing company, and that time has finally come. I am SO excited to launch Piano Beginnings: a community of positive people who love the power and joy of teaching music to young children!
Piano Beginnings is an engaging and effective curriculum that teaches young children to play the piano, and gives music teachers an opportunity to share the joy of music with others!
